Sapporo Japanese sushi restaurant is conveniently located on E Peachtree Lane. With the option for dine-in or takeout, they have a menu that will blow your mind with sushi options and other Japanese cuisine.  Those not in the mood for sushi can enjoy Pad Thai, fried rice, chicken katsu, tasty fried tempura, or various types of teriyaki.

The Cowboy Roll has become a local favorite. This unique roll has cucumber, avocado, and salmon on the inside and jalapeno, spicy white tuna, and hot sauce on top. Another local favorite takes it name from the local university. The W.S.U. Umi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar 

Over at 11233 E 13th St N, you will find both a Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar wrapped in one. Umi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar offers a lunch sushi menu that will help you get your fix earlier in the day if you choose. They offer nigiri, sashimi, maki sushi, handroll sushi, and chef specials. There are over 40 different roll options. They also have tasty bento boxes, soups, salads, fried rice, and donburi bowls overflowing with flavorful ingredients. 

This is one of the more upscale and popular sushi bars in Wichita, so make sure you make reservations if you can. You will not be disappointed when you arrive for your meal. Their unique rolls include the Sweet Home Roll, filled with shrimp tempura and avocado and topped with snow crab. The Black Forest Roll is popular in Japan but not so common stateside. It contains yellow tail, salmon, tuna, and avocado and is topped with black tobiko, also known as black forbidden rice. There are fresh flavors here you won't find in most other local eateries.  

Blue Fin Sake Bar & Sushi 

Blue Fin Sake Bar & Sushi is another relatively upscale sushi bar nestled right in the center of Wichita. You can enjoy fresh sushi rolls and some of the best sake in the city. The menu here is 8 pages of fresh sashimi, sushi, tempura rolls, classic rolls, and signature rolls.  They make the menu easy to decipher by including symbols indicating which rolls are spicy, sweet, mild, or seasoned with soy mustard. 

If you want to try their take on a W.S.U. Roll, it is made with fresh crab, spicy tuna, avocado, and topped with freshwater eel inside soy paper. The Red Fantasy Roll is another local favorite filled with crab, tuna, asparagus, and avocado and then topped with fried garlic for that rich umami flavor.  

Over at the bar, you can choose between nine different sakes, including Moonstone Asian Pear and Tosai Living Jewel. Other bar options include signature cocktails, beer, wine, and a variety of liquor options for your favorite shots.
